A very small hydrocarbon leak has caused a terrible disaster at a Chevron oil refinery in Richmond California. The plant experienced a devastating fire that has put the refinery out of commission for an unknown amount of time. Many residents were forced indoors from noxious black smoke. The fire has been extinguished and investigators are now looking into the cause of the fire. The refinery processes nearly a quarter million barrels of oil per day. The impact on oil prices will be great and has already began to rise at many stations across California.
