Italy is one of the world leaders in renewable energy generation. Solar PV now accounts for nearly 10% of their electricity demand. With hydropower supplying 23.4% , wind power producing 5.8% and geo-thermal power 2%.
However, Italy’s solar power growth has slowed, due to a cutting tax breaks in 2013. However recently parliament has increased the net-metering threshold from 200kw to 500kw, which should boost commercial and industrial viability.
